Preparing for a financial review
Four process steps, and what needs to be in place internally before each step. Print this page or send the link on to your managing director or procurement.
01
Scoping
- Which area or areas of analysis should be covered? (VAT and transaction analysis, price and contract compliance, energy analysis and energy tax, property and property tax analysis, tailored analysis, or several)
- How far back in time should the review go?
- Who in the organisation is the contact person during the assignment?
- Is there a short, written description of the purpose that can be shared internally?
02
Data and analysis
- Which systems hold the data to be analysed?
- Can the analyst be given read-only access directly in the systems, or does the data need to be exported manually?
- Is there someone internally who can answer questions about how the systems are set up, if needed?
- Have any confidentiality or personal data issues been identified in advance?
03
Verification
- Who in the organisation should be involved when a potential finding needs to be verified against the underlying documentation?
- How quickly can internal questions be answered during the assignment, without becoming a bottleneck?
- Is it clear internally that nothing is reported as a finding until it has been verified?
04
Results and basis for decisions
- Who should receive the final result: only the finance function, or also the managing director, the board or procurement?
- Is a short summary needed for management, in addition to the full report?
- Is there a process for deciding on and carrying out the proposed actions after the assignment?
